The transport truck driver charged in a crash that killed 16 people has been released on $1,000 bail.

Jaskirat Sidhu, 29 from Calgary, faces several conditions, including that he not drive and he surrender his passport.

Sidhu is charged with 16 counts of dangerous driving causing death and 13 counts of dangerous driving causing bodily injury.

He appeared in a Melfort, Saskatchewan court Tuesdays morning, where the case was put over to August 21.

RCMP have said they will not release any details of the investigation or what they believe happened. The only thing they have said to this point is the truck was in the intersection when the collision occurred.
