Truck driver charged for going wrong way on highway near London

A Windsor man is facing charges after a transport truck was seen travelling in the wrong direction on a highway in Dutton, Ont.

Ontario Provincial Police received reports about a truck going the wrong way on Highway 401 around 9:20 a.m. Tuesday.

Officers located the truck near the Coyne Rd. overpass attempting to turn around. Police escorted the truck to a nearby service centre.

A 52-year-old man has been charged with careless driving.

“Any amount of time driving the wrong way on the highway can be fatal to other motorist,” said Cst. Adam Credson in a news release. “The OPP is urging any motoring public going the wrong way on a divided highway to first; pull over to the nearest shoulder, stop and call police immediately for assistance.”
