Despite the Hamilton Tiger-Cats’ 1 and 6 record, Dan LeFevour was off to a promising run as a replacement for injured starter Zach Collaros.

But after a disappointing diagnosis, LeFevour is now scheduling season-ending knee surgery. And among a long, and on-going list of trials and tribulations that the Ticats have had to endure this season, losing him was a significant blow.

“Am I in pain? No… doctors are happy with how little swelling there is. From that perspective it’s all positive.”

However LeFevour admitted that he had not watched the game tape until today. “I pushed off with my left foot… knew right away it wasn’t good. I just collapsed.”

With no rest for the weary, Kent Austin is spending the bye week trying to figure out who will start at quarterback on Labour Day. He says Zach Collaros is still unable to resume a full workout schedule, let alone play, so third-stringer Jeremiah Masoli will compete with fourth-stringer Stephen McGee — who has yet to see action in a CFL game.

Austin gingerly admitted that things are also looking bleak for C.J. Gable — at least for the short term, leaving him with far more questions than answers. “We’re pretty beat up. Guys need a break, guys questionable for Labour Day… see where we’re at.”

As for LeFevour? “…we can still make the playoffs… there’s a lot to play for still, obviously.”
