The offseason is going to be slightly longer than what the Ticats had been hoping for, but they can use the extra time because there’s a lot of offseason business to get done.

34 players are eligible for free agency in February, including Ted Laurent who is nominee for the CFL’s outstanding Canadian player. Kent Austin says that “Teddy’s a priority for us, and he knows that. So we’re working hard at it.”

But Austin has a long list to prioritize, two-thirds of the starting D-line are also looking for new contracts, as is halfback Emanuel Davis who led the team with five interceptions.

On offence, Terrell Sinkfield Junior, Bakari Grant and Andy Fantuz represent a valuable portion of the Ticat receiving corps, and Jeremiah Masoli’s stock has risen going from fourth string to starting quarterback by season’s end.

The CFL free agent market opens on February 9th.
