Three people have been injured in a police pursuit early this morning in Niagara-on-the-Lake.

The OPP began pursuing an SUV just before 4:00am in the Toronto-bound lanes of the QEW at Glendale Ave. Before coming to a stop in a ditch, the driver of the SUV is said to have rear-ended another vehicle, three occupants inside were taken to hospital with minor injuries.

It is not clear at this time what caused police to initially give chase to the vehicle.

After the SUV came to a stop, the driver fled on foot. Police took him into custody a short time later. No word on charges.

The off-ramp to Glendale Ave. from the Toronto-bound QEW has since fully reopened.
