The building was built in 1867 and still has many of its original beams, woodwork, three fireplaces and brickwork. The Lake House was known as one of the first stops on the Underground Railroad for black slaves escaping from the US to Canada. The building is said to be haunted to two resident ghosts, Elizabeth a young girl and “the Captain” an old sea sailor.

Chef Mitchell is the Corporate Chef for both The Lake House and The Stone House. He has been with the restaurants since 2006 and he studied at the Niagara Culinary Institute.
