Tesla has done something no other car maker has ever done, gotten a perfect score from Consumer Reports magazine.

The P85D is Tesla’s latest fully electric car, and it was given the highest score ever by consumer reports. A 103 out of 100. The previous high was the Tesla S, which scored 98.

“There was a lot of hype around the consumer reports 103 out of 100 score that has never been done before. A lot of excitement.” said Martin Paquet from Tesla Canada.

The P85D sedan sells for just under $128,000 and doesn’t require a drop of gasoline.

“The secret behind it is the way it was engineered, the attention to detail and the performance .It can do 0-100 in about 3 seconds.”

In a few months Tesla’s will get a software update to allow them to self steer.

“All the model S’s that are on the roads today have the camera’s and sensors to allow them to self drive.”

For a more “hands on” approach the 2014 BMW M235I is also one of the highest ranked cars by consumer reports, scoring 98 out of 100.

“We were excited when we saw that come out. M35 is a fantastic car. We know it but its nice that others know it too and the fact that a sports car can be both fun and safe is pretty nice as well.” said David Chisholm from Budds’ BMW Oakville.

Adam Atkinson took it for a spin and quickly discovered why the magazine was so high on the little coupe.

“Just a quick car, perfectly balanced like a BMW should be. Just a hoot do drive on the street and the track.”

The BMW mM235I starts at $49,000. Not only is it a lot of fun to drive, it’s nearly $80,000 cheaper than the Tesla.

“The best feature of this car is the performance for your dollar. Its the most exciting BMW on the lower end of the lineup that you can get in to.”

So whether you prefer gas or electric, neither of these cars will steer you wrong.
