Niagara police Major Crime detectives confirmed Friday that a 76 year old St Catharines woman pulled from her burning home was murdered.

Livia Biernes was restrained in her basement while her home filled with noxious smoke in the Wednesday night blaze. As Lauran Sabourin reports, neighbours are horrified at the thought that someone would kill an innocent woman they considered their friend.
