(Update)

If the chilly weather isn’t enough to convince you that fall is on its way, maybe this will. It’s opening day at the Ex. The start of the two week long exhibition traditionally marks the beginning of the end of summer.

It’s time to kick up your heels, fly high, and savour the last two weeks before September strikes.

“Not looking forward to going back to school.”

For many, opening day at the Ex marks the beginning of the end of summer.

It’s a chance to pack in as much excitement as possible before back to school.

This year’s CNE has plenty of old favourites on the midway and in the barnyard.

Above the action, feature attractions like The Flying Wallendas and kilometre long zipline are wowing crowds.

And we can’t forget the food.

“We came all the way from Dallas, Texas. It’s definitely the bacon.”

Tiny Tom’s Donuts are back at the Ex for their fiftieth year. And a revamped classic is shaping up to be this 2014’s must have item.

“Thanksgiving waffle. Thanksgiving waffle. Thanksgiving waffle.”

For some the draw is rides or food or concerts, but for a lot of families it’s all about the nostalgia factor.

“Memories.”

“It’s been a tradition of ours to come every year especially on opening day and the kids love the rides. So it’s a great way to spend the last little bit of summer.”
