It forced the Hamilton Fire Department to call out four pumper trucks from various stations in the area. The fire broke out in a heavily wooded property off Concession Five — just west of Valens Road. Residents noticed smoke and fire from the building around three o’clock, and it took firefighters nearly 12 minutes to reach the site — located roughly 100 meters from the road.

The metal frame building was damaged beyond recovery, and the loss is estimated at roughly 75-thousand dollars. In addition to the remote location — fire crews were also worried about active hydro lines.

Firefighters had to haul water from the Beverley Community Centre, roughly 10 kilometers away, to fight the fire. No injuries, were reported.
