Prime Minister Stephen Harper has kicked off what will be the longest federal election campaign in recent history.
Harper asked the Governor General to dissolve parliament beginning an eleven week federal election campaign Sunday.
Minutes later NDP leader Tom Mulcair launched his campaign, saying the economy will be the party’s main focus. Mulcair says his party will get Canadians back to work.
Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau was on a flight to Vancouver to march in the pride parade so it wasn’t until a few hours later that he launched his campaign. Some criticized that decision saying this could feed into the Conservative narrative that this is a leader who is “just not ready.” Trudeau promises to make things better for the middle class.
