Niagara Regional Council suspends Petrowski’s pay

First Published:

Niagara Regional Council has voted to suspend the pay of St. Catharines Councillor Andy Petrowski, who sent out a nude photo from his government email to 95 people over a year ago.

Petrowski, who currently is on paid leave for an undisclosed medical reason, wrote a letter to council on Wednesday night asking for his pay not to be docked, saying “any financial penalty would cause significant duress.”

Regional council voted Thursday night to accept a recommendation from the regional integrity commissioner to suspend his pay for the last month of his political career.

The suspension will begin after the October elections, starting on Nov. 1 and ending on Nov. 30.
