Ontario’s community colleges could start the new term without varsity athletics.
A spokesperson for the Ontario Colleges Athletics Association says that’s because many athletic directors are support staff workers, who are currently on strike.
The OCAA represents about 4,000 college athletes in men’s and women’s soccer, rugby, cross country, golf and women’s fastball.
Men’s and women’s soccer games are scheduled to begin tomorrow. Those games, and others, will be postponed if the strike continues past noon today.
