Slo-mo big rig pursuit ends

First Published:

The ten-hour pursuit of a stolen tractor-trailer has ended with the arrest of the driver.

The flat-bed truck was stolen from a truck stop in the Niagara region around 4 this morning.

Nothing was loaded on the truck.

At first Niagara Police tried to pull him over. OPP took over the chase, which wound onto the Queen Elizabeth Way, the 403, several rural routes, and onto the 401 to Ingersoll.

The driver turned around, heading to Niagara Falls. It turned around again at McLeod Road, and made it to Burlington, where it pulled over at the Fairview Street exit.

A man, described as being clean-cut, in his late 30s – but not wearing shoes – was arrested and taken to the OPP Burlington detachment.
