National Geographic’s new landmark series travels back in time across the entire sweep of human history on a quest to discover the “ORIGIN” moments that have truly made us modern. It’s a full-sensory, time-travel adventure that delves deep into history to find the pivotal moments that fueled our evolutionary ascension.

ORIGINS: The Journey of Humankind has a contemporary point of view, and world-class future-thinker Jason Silva guides us through the exploration of these explosive events, such as the discoveries and applications of fire and medicine, that fundamentally and irrevocably created our modern lives. Each of these “next big things” has been identified in consultation with the world’s leading authors and scholars and additional disruptors or ‘origin’ moments featured include war, money, communication, transportation, exploration and shelter. The surprising connections between these “quantum leaps” also play an important role in the series’ exploration.

Moving back in time, each episode starts in the present day and finishes when we arrive at the origin of the story. To further amplify the viewing experiences, the series features dazzling audio-visual sequences designed by John Boswell, known worldwide as Melodysheep, along with global expert commentary and cinematic, dramatic sequences that capture the magic of these discoveries throughout history.
