Some people were being allowed out of their office buildings with lockdowns being lifted one-by-one.  Those people are coming out in the area of Parliament Hill but no one is allowed north of that due to a still existing blockade.  The RCMP and Ottawa police are still calling it a fluid and ongoing situation.

After the shooting just before 10am of Corporal Nathan Cirillo at the National War Memorial, the shooter got in a car and drove to the parliament buildings.  MP’s and witnesses reported many shots fired.

The shooter, who was known to police, was shot and killed by Sergeant-at-Arms Kevin Vickers, a 29 year veteran of the police force who, in those 29 years, apparently had never shot anyone.

The shooting happened just outside the MP’s caucus rooms.

The flag on Parliament Hill and at Ottawa city hall have been lowered to half-staff.
