Serious crash in Haldimand

The OPP are investigating a serious two car crash that took place Friday morning at Haldimand County Road 9 in Hagersville.

One of the vehicles was travelling northbound on Sandusk Road when it collided at the intersection with a car travelling westbound on Haldimand County Road 9.

One of the vehicles involved caught fire and went into a nearby quarry, which was full of water. The vehicle is completely submerged, and the OPP Underwater Search team is coming down from Gravenhurst to remove the vehicle from the quarry. The occupants in that car are unaccounted for and the status of their injuries are unknown, says OPP Cst. Ed Sanchuk.

The other vehicle, a SUV, rolled over with a 52 year old female driver and a 22 year old female passenger inside. They were taken to hospital and treated for minor injures.

Haldimand County Road 9 is expected to be closed for the remainder of the day and the following closures are in effect: Highway 6 at Sandusk Road, Concession 13 Walpole at Sandusk Road, Haldimand Road 9 at Highway 55 and Highway 6 at Haldimand County Road 9 will be closed while police continue to investigate.
