Riot at Don Jail

A riot is taking place at Toronto Jail, also known as the Don Jail.

According to Dan Sidsworth, chair of the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services, about 15 to 20 inmates are involved. Sidsworth says he’s heard reports that an inmate has been taken hostage, but that has not been confirmed.

Trained negotiators are at the jail trying to control the situation.
He also says that five institution crisis intervention teams have been dispatched.

According to Sidsworth, no staff have been injured, and the riot has been contained to one section of the facility.

I hope the police get it under control quickly with no one getting hurt

Chris D says:

Where does it say police are involved? Correctional Officers have no affiliations with police. They’re completely separate entities.

Concerned says:

To the correctional officers inside… Stay safe and make it home to your families!

Chris D says:

You can’t possibly be talking of tazers and guns in the jail, because there are none.
