It’s painful for Daniel LeBlanc to re-visit his home after the deadly August 6th fire. The blaze destroyed his home, killing his long-time girlfriend, 27-year old Victoria Forrest, their one and a half year old daughter Abigail and Victoria’s nine year old son Robert. His son Dontay and his girlfriend’s son Tayshawn, who he calls his own, survived along with his mother and other relatives who were staying with the family at the time.

The fire broke out in the kitchen shortly before 4:30 am, LeBlanc remembers waking up to heavy smoke.
“Victoria was taking a breath out the back window and I went over to her and I don’t remember if I said anything, but I know she said go and I grabbed Tayshawn and I ran down.”

He says he tried but he couldn’t get back into the house to save them, the smoke and flames were just too much.
“It was hard leaving and not seeing someone else, them not coming down. It was really hard.”

Daniel, his mother and his two sons didn’t just lose half their family, they lost their home and all of their possessions. They now face the extremely difficult task of trying to piece their lives back together.
“Everybody just keeps comming and donating and dropping stuff off and it’s been overwhelming honestly.”

A GoFundMe page was set up to help cover funeral costs. It surpassed it’s goal of $25 000 but it is still open to those who wish to help the family.
