Residents in the town of Pelham complain about marijuana smell

First Published:

Even though the country is months away from recreational pot being legalized, some are already getting their first whiff of it.

The town of Pelham says it’s been receiving complaints from residents about a marijuana odour from nearby grow-ops.

Marjiuana is known for its pungent smell, and some say its noticeable even contained within a greenhouse. Although others say there are worse things you can smell in the countryside..

The town of Pelham says they’ve been hearing the concern from residents loud and clear about the smell of marijuana.

“People have been complaining they’ve been smelling this marijuana type smell, and they live a little bit of a distance from the facility, so they’re calling the town because they don’t know who else to call.” says Mayor of Pelham Dave Augustyn.

While there are five licensed grow-ops in Pelham and the surrounding area, the majority of the complaints are stemming from one facility in particular.

The Redecan Pharm Greenhouse, located on Foss Road, has had a number of complaints directed towards it, and the mayor is urging anyone who is bothered by the smell to direct their concerns towards Health Canada..

“We’ve been telling them as they’ve been calling, to call Health Canada, because the town doesn’t regulate this type of thing. It’s medicial marijuana, so it is regulated by Health Canada.
