Today the province announced it was looking at lowering speed limits from 50 to 30 kilometres an hour on some city roads. Municipalities will be consulting to find out if a lower speed limit would make roads safer for pedestrians, cyclists and drivers.

The city of Hamilton installed posts to calm traffic, but people in some Hamilton neighbourhoods say it has done anything but – one resident has had her parked car smashed three times.

City officials say that lowering speed limits will work on some roads but not all. They will be asking the province to consider speeds ranging from 30 to 50 saying moving traffic efficiently is still a priority in the city.
