Pothole problems

First Published:

Back in February, Hamilton Mayor Fred Eisenberger announced that city crews would be working around the clock, conducting emergency pothole repairs. But with the recent ice storm and rain, much of that hard work has been undone.

City council approved $20 million for road repairs and resurfacing in March. The Public Works committee yesterday gave the go ahead for the first $5.9 million of that money to be spent on resurfacing some of the worst roads, including Burlington and Cannon streets, as well as Upper Gage.

So far, 379 claims have been filed against the city for damage done to vehicles from potholes.
