The Red Green Show entertained viewers for 15 years. It also showed us that duct tape could be used to fix just about anything. The original Possum Lodge was right here at CHCH. And this Sunday you can bid on every-single piece of the set where Red and the gang built so many memories.

Some of the camera crew at CHCH actually worked on The Red Green Show during the early years and they told me that they would routinely run into people from all across the continent who showed up to be a part of the studio audience. This Sunday, they can own a part of that studio set.

Steve Smith: “I wore this as a hat once, years ago.”

For Steve Smith — the creator and star of the hit comedy series The Red Green Show, this is the first time in years that he’s been on the set where he became ‘Red Green’ — and the memories hit him like a ton of duct tape.

Steve Smith: “This was a big part of my life for fifteen years. I don’t come here ever. I walk in and it’s like, ‘oh my gosh, I got flashbacks’. I can remember things that happened in certain areas. It’s a warm feeling.”

The set of The Red Green Show has been kept warm at Mr. Used on Barton Street in Hamilton. And due to downsizing, everything on the set from make-shift tools to stuffed wolves will be auctioned off in a one-day event this Sunday.

Steve Smith: “It’s going to give a lot of people who really care about the show an opportunity to have a piece of it, y’know in their home.”

The Red Green Show has over 650-thousand followers and you know they’re going to want every single piece of this set. But what about Mr. Steve Smith a.k.a. Red Green. Is there some artifact he’s going to keep for himself before it’s all gone?

Steve Smith: “I’m taking that for my friend Jeff Lumby. He played the septic, y’know ‘if your eyes are stinging my phone should be ringing. So instead of selling both the signs I’ll take one and give it to him.”
