Not only is today is a busy travel day, it’s also a busy shopping day. Friday marks the start of the final weekend before Christmas.

There are 5 shopping days left until Christmas but Mapleview Centre is not that busy at this time. It seems that the dinner hour is the ideal time to come shopping.

Shop employees say it was the busiest day so far this year. They are gearing up for a super busy weekend.

The line-ups at the checkout are not too bad but the biggest stressor seems to be finding a parking spot.

Shoppers say they not too stressed out yet:

“We’re almost done.”

“We’re going to get it done today.”

“We’re just getting started, and this is a big deal for me. Usually I start on the 24th, so I’m on the ball.”

“I’m always a bit of a last minute because I procrastinate.”

“I bought like two things. (How many people do you have to shop for?) 18.”

“I did a lot on line to prep so when I came here I kind of knew what I was looking for already. So that’s helped me a little bit because the malls are crazy.”

According to a recent CIBC poll, 64% are not done their Christmas shopping. The malls are open until 5pm on Christmas Eve.
