Police are investigating two overnight incidences in Hess Village

Hamilton police are investigating two separate incidents overnight in Hess Village.

Just after 1 am, Hamilton police received information about a male with a handgun in the area of George st and Hess st. The suspect left the scene prior to police arrival but was located in a nearby convenience store. He then threw a bottle at an officer and ran off. A foot chase ensued through an alleyway where police then tasered the man.

A loaded handgun was located along the path the male had taken. The 24 year old Toronto man was arrested and appeared in court on Tuesday for firearm offences.

While police were investigating that incident, a large fight broke out in Hess Village, resulting in one woman being tasered and a second woman being pepper sprayed by an officer attempting to break up the fight.

If you have any information that you believe could assist police with the investigation into this crime you are asked to contact Central Division Detectives Office by calling 905-546-4861.
