Police identify human remains found near Marineland

First Published:

Niagara police say human remains found near Marineland in Niagara Falls are those of a local woman.

Fifty-three-year-old Wendy Fontaine was reported missing in June after she failed to show up at work.

Officers were called to a small wooded area near McLeod Rd. and Stanley Ave. earlier this month after a passerby found what appeared to be human remains.

Police investigators say they have been in touch with Fontaine’s family since Friday.

Medical experts are still working to determine the exact cause of death. Police say based on their investigation and the examination of the scene, they do not suspect foul play.
