About Adam

CHCH News reporter Adam Atkinson grew up in the town of Fannystelle, near Winnipeg, Manitoba. After graduating from Television Broadcasting at Confederation College in Thunder Bay, Ontario, Adam’s broadcasting career started at CKX Television in Brandon, Manitoba. He then ventured to RDTV in Red Deer, Alberta, before joining the CHCH News team in 2002.

Adam has lived all over Canada, including Hamilton for 10 years. In his spare time, he enjoys playing sports, just not well. He laces up the skates once a week in a local hockey league and claims he once led the league in assists.

Adam often puts his Miniature Schnauzer Lucy in his stories, so we’ve seen her grow up over the years. The Atkinson’s now have three Miniature Schnauzers, Lucy, Isabella, and SoHo, and they’ve all made television appearances.

Adam can often be found at the local movie theatre with other CHCH’ers, catching the latest funny flick, or walking his famous Miniature Schnauzers along the countless trails in Hamilton, Halton, and Niagara.

His creative and often humorous approach to stories makes Adam a great addition to the CHCH News team.
