While we at CHCH feel like we’ve lost someone close to us, we know that our viewers are also feeling the pain of her passing. Our email inboxes, social media feeds, and website have been packed with touching memories of Nicola.

The passing of Nicola has impacted many of our viewers who say they felt like they knew her personally, as she was part of their lives and routines every morning for so many years.

On Twitter, knitterluv wrote: “I am so saddened by the loss of a wonderful lady. Today there is definitely a black cloud over Hamilton. One that will not be forgotten.”

@niclecoghlin tweets “Heartbroken that #nicolajones lost her battle. So #strong and loved by an entire city, prayers for her son and family.”

Tthe Halton Regional Police also sent their sympathies, tweeting out: “We are very sorry to hear the passing of #nicolajones. Our thoughts are with her friends, co-workers, and family.”

Viewers have also been sending their condolences via e-mail. Joanne Battaglia writes: Nicola was an amazing individual with overflowing spirit. She was part of my day, every day! My thoughts are with her family and co-workers.”

Ron Newman says, “Our condolences to Nicola’s family and everyone at CHCH and others who were fortunate to have been graced by her infectious smile. I enjoyed her presence on CHCH. Just a crime to lose this battle at such a young age, she’ll definitely be missed.”

On Facebook, one woman writes: “Haunted Hamilton joins so many others in mourning the loss of Nicola Jones! Nicola would laugh and say how “creeped out” she was with our Haunted Hamilton events and artifacts when in truth she loved every moment of it! Nicola was a very spiritual person and we know that her journey has now led her to a peaceful place!”

Karen Fess writes: “She is an inspiration and a heck of a fighter. While Susan Carnegie says: “So very sad to hear this tragic news! I always enjoyed Nicola’s bright, funny, cheerful disposition on the morning show.”

And Pam McCumber writes: “Rest In Peace Nicola. She was one classy, beautiful lady, and a fighter all the way to the end. So very positive too. Although her family and friends will miss her forever, they must also be very proud of the woman she was.”

And earlier today, the Morning Live team shared their memories of Nicola and spoke about the impact she had on them. Here’s what they had to say.

It’s of course been a very sad day here at the station, but I know that everyone has appreciated the kind words from our viewers about their fond memories of Nicola. It’s also extremely comforting to know how much she touched people and that she’ll be remembered by both them and us as a vibrant and wonderful person.
