OPP seize $3.9M in illicit drugs, 7 people charged

The Ontario Provincial Police have charged five men and two women after roughly $3.9 million worth of marijuana was seized in Norfolk County.

Officers executed a search warrant at farm in Renton, Ont. on Wednesday.

Investigators discovered mass amounts of marijuana, and about $18,000 in cash. Three motor vehicles were also seized during the investigation.

Twenty-year-old Huangsheng Wu, of Hamilton, is among the seven people charged with producing marijuana and possession for the purpose of trafficking. The six others are all Toronto area residents.

“Illegal marihuana production operations pose a real threat to both public and police safety and the OPP remains strongly committed to work within all of our communities across the province to stem the tide of illicit drugs,” said OPP Inspector Zvonko Horvat.

The seven suspects are to appear in a Simcoe, Ont. court at a later date.
