The provincial government says it’s moving forward with plans for a high-speed rail line to connect London, Kitchener-Waterloo and Toronto.

Officials say they’re committing to finalizing the business case and starting an environmental assessment for the line by this fall.

Introducing high speed rail service between London and Toronto is part of the government’s long-term transit and infrastructure plan. The government says with a planned stop at Pearson International Airport, the high-speed rail line would better connect southwestern Ontario businesses with the global economy.
