Oldest Ticat fan meets the team

First Published:

At 103-years old, Ann Konkel may just be the oldest Hamilton Tiger-Cats fan around.

The retired nurse has been a fan of the team since the early 50’s, and still watches them to this day.

The Ticats have a very nice surprise for her.

Ann Konkel is one excited Centenarian.

She watched part of the Hamilton Ticats practice from the sidelines today.

Ann celebrated her 103rd birthday on Saturday.

She was a nurse at the old Henderson Hospital, and was part of the team that worked on injured Tiger-Cats.

Players like offensive lineman Tony Washington even came over to say hi.

Watching practice was just a treat, as a surprise, the Ticats are inviting the birthday girl to the game against the Redblacks on the 28th at Tim Hortons Field.

Ann still lives at home by herself, and is quite independent, she has some advice for people looking to live into their hundreds.

To eat well, don’t be hesitant, don’t say “I don’t like that”. Food is food, it’s healthy for you even Brussels sprouts.

She was born in the Netherlands, moved here after the war, and is clearly a proud Hamiltonian.
