OHL about to hit Hammer?

First Published:

Next Monday, Hamilton city council will discuss and perhaps even approve a deal that would bring the Ontario Hockey League back to town.

The OHL franchise said to be seeking out Steeltown is the Erie Otters.

If they move to Hamilton they would play at the Dave Andreychuk Mountain Arena, the current home of the junior Red Wings of the OJHL, for as long as five years beginning next fall.

If the Hamilton Bulldogs were to move to a new arena that has been approved in Laval, Quebec – a much speculated move – the OHL team would move into Copps Coliseum. The last OHL team to play in Hamilton was the ill-fated Hamilton Dukes who left town and went to Guelph in 1991.
