Oakville-Run Hospital Bombed in Syria

First Published:

A Canadian non-profit medical support organization based in Oakville says its hospital in Aleppo Syria has been bombed and destroyed. UOSSM-Canada blames Syrian and Russian airstrikes.
Oakville Surgeon Dr. Anas Al Kassem helped to operate and support the Al Marjeh Primary Health Care Centre which opened in 2014 and served internally displaced Syrians.

In a statement Dr. Al Kassem says “The targeting of health centres and hospitals is a war crime. We strongly condemn these actions and ask the international community to act and protect hospitals and aid workers. It’s time the international community took action to stop these crimes against humanity.”

UOSSM-Canada says it has sent millions of dollars worth of medical supplies to this and many other medical facilities in Syria over the past two years.

Dr. Al Kassem says there was no one inside the facility at the time of the bombing.
