Oakville councillor Max Khan dies in hospital

The political community in Oakville and beyond was in mourning Sunday after the sudden and unexpected death of a popular councillor and federal liberal candidate Max Khan. He was 46-years-old.

Khan served on council since 2005 and was the liberal candidate in the upcoming federal election in the new riding of Oakville North Burlington.

Khan had complained of flu symptoms for days and went to Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital just after 7 o’clock Saturday night.

It was just past midnight when he died.

A cause of death has not been released.

Funeral services for Khan will be held at the Islamic centre on South Sheridan Way in Mississauga on Monday afternoon.
