Some residents in historic Niagara-on-the-Lake are upset with politicians over a new home being built. The biggest complaint is that the multi million dollar mansion is ruining the neighbourhood.

When it is complete, it will be a 45 hundred square foot waterfront home with a very contemporary design. Many residents are upset the property owner tore down the big colonial home to build a huge glass and steel structure.

At least one neighbour says it’s like the wild west, politicians are ignoring the heritage rules and letting developers build what they want. Lord Mayor Patrick Darte says this house was approved by the municipal heritage committee and Front street is not in the heritage district.
