No suspension for Leafs Nazem Kadri

Nazem Kadri will not be suspended for the throat-slash gesture he directed at Calgary Flames captain Mark Giordano.

However, the Toronto Maple Leafs centre has been fined $5,000 for his actions in Tuesday night’s game against the Flames.

This events stems from when Mark Giordano knocked down Kadri with an open-ice hit, Kadri then mimed a throat slash and threatened to kill the defenceman while on the bench.

Kadri apologized Wednesday for what he called “an emotional reaction” to what he suspected was a dirty hit.

The money from his fine will go to the Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund.
