It’s music to their ears. The Niagara Symphony Orchestra is having a record-breaking season since moving to their new home at the First Ontario Performing Arts Centre late November. Ticket sales are up 54% and subscriptions have nearly doubled. By comparison, ticket sales and subscriptions for the Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra are up a modest 10%.

The new state-of-the-art facility offers ample seating, in fact roughly 200 more seats than the orchestra’s former home, Brock University’s Sean O’Sullivan theatre. And it’s not just the crowds that are noticing the upgrades. The stage at the Sean O’Sullivan theatre fit only 52 musicians, giving them no wiggle room for guest performers. The new stage has space for about 20 more musicians.

It’s not just the orchestra that has seen a surge in business, local resturants in and around the downtown core have also been impacted. New restaurants are popping up along the downtown corridor. Success which is music to everyone’s ears.
