Niagara police search for witness of alleged road rage incident

Niagara Regional Police are looking for a witness to an alleged road rage incident on Thursday.

Police say a male driver was involved in an altercation around 4:35 p.m. near Regional Rd. 20 and Haist St. in Pelham.

“The altercation led to the suspect male driver allegedly rear ending another vehicle before fleeing the scene at a high rate of speed south on Haist, to Welland Road,” said Niagara police in a news release.

Roughly four minutes later, investigators say the male tried to pass a female driver who was travelling westbound on Welland Rd. near the intersection of Centre St. The female subsequently lost control of her vehicle and struck a tree.

No one was hurt in the collision.

Police say the male is facing a several charges under the Highway Traffic Act.
