What started off as an idea to keep busy has grown into a social enterprise, giving people with developmental disabilities a place to learn and grow.

For the past 7 years, ‘Well Preserved Condiments & Jellies’ part of the community living in Grimsby, Lincoln and West Lincoln has given people with developmental disabilities the chance to help others while helping themselves

Profits are split between the 15-20 employees with community living only taking back it’s costs. The kitchen also serves as an educational space that could lead to jobs in related fields. Well Preserved had sales of about $40 000 last year.

However, the experience of working here is something money can’t buy for most of these young adults, “it makes me really happy and really exciting to do stuff for them actually doing something to help other people in the community. It makes you feel that you can actually accomplish something that you never thought you could ever do and it makes me feel so good that I can be a part of this organization.”
