Tom Hardy had a pretty quiet 2014, starring in the minimalistic indie film Locke (a performance that should have garnered more award buzz) and the crime drama The Drop. This year the man formerly known as Bane has four films scheduled for release, the first of them being Child 44.

Based on the first novel in author Tom Rob Smith’s best-selling trilogy, CHILD 44 tells the story of a man fighting to reclaim his humanity from a system that requires him to sacrifice it in order to survive.

Safe House director Daniel Espinosa is behind the lens for this one with Ridley Scott producing. Starring alongside Hardy are Gary Oldman, Joel Kinnaman, Noomi Rapace, Vincent Cassel, and Jason Clarke.

Child 44 is scheduled to hit theatres on April 17.
