Healthy eating on a budget can be difficult for a lot of people, but a new community food centre hoping to open its doors next year on the Hamilton mountain is trying to change that.

The New Community Food Centre will be at 310 Limeridge Road west in Hamilton. To renovate this building it will cost about $600 000 so it will take some donations to make this all happen.

People will be welcome to drop in for a healthy cooked meal, learn how to make nutritious meals, access food markets and share stories with each other.

Neighbour to Neighbour centre says it’s important to open up this location because it says 35% of the people who live in some Hamilton mountain neighbourhoods live below the poverty line with very few services available to them.
