Mr. Right is a dark romantic comedy directed by Paco Cabezas. The film had its world premiere as the closing night film for last year’s Toronto International Film Festival. It stars Sam Rockwell, Anna Kendrick, Tim Roth, James Ransone, Anson Mount, Michael Eklund, RZA.

Hyperactive at the best of times, Martha (Anna Kendrick; Pitch Perfect) has gone full-on manic since her latest breakup. She babbles, parties like a monster, cooks everything in sight — and is looking to do something terrible when she meets Francis (Sam Rockwell; The Way Way Back). To anyone else, Francis’s approach would come across as creepy, but Martha can’t help but be intrigued. They seem a perfect match: she’s bananas, he’s bananas… except he’s a deadly sort of bananas. He’s a professional assassin. His services are solicited by a dubious client who’s being sought by an equally dubious FBI agent (Tim Roth; The Hateful Eight, Reservoir Dogs). As the bodies pile up, Martha needs to decide whether to flee or join in the mayhem.

In an interview with Metro, Rockwell talked about his acrobatic action scenes. “I’ve always been a kind of would-be dancer, and I’ve been interested in boxing for a long time. So I had just had fun with it. We didn’t have the budget to choreograph that many fight scenes. We only had a week to do five or six fight scenes, where you usually have a month for something like “Mission: Impossible.” So we had our work cut out for us.”

Mr. Right is rated 14A.
