Corporal Nathan Cirillo has made his final journey home, after a historic journey down the Highway of Heroes, arriving in Hamilton Friday night.

The memorial at the family’s home in east Hamilton continued to grow on Saturday.

The neighbourhood streets were blocked by police out of respect.

Nearly every home showcasing a yellow ribbon or a Canadian flag.

And in front of the Cirillo house the flowers and notes and flags and wreaths keep piling higher.

Before he retired, Tim Fletcher attended many military funerals as the public relations contact for the armouries.

But he says the coverage of Corporal Nathan Cirillo’s death has kept him weeping.

He says the way Cirillo died on home soil and unaware of any danger makes the tragedy that much more terrible.
