The Police Services Act hearing for Hamilton Police sergeant Helena Pereira wrapped up today.

Pereira was found guilty of unnecessary use of force, and not identifying herself as an officer in a case involving a drunk prisoner. She was not in uniform at the time.

Pereira was also found guilty of discreditable conduct in a different case, where she didn’t disclose a conflict of interest. In that case, her cousin was involved in a drug-related arrest.

Both incidents happened back in 2013.

The hearing lasted 7 days, and included 9 witnesses. Disciplinary action will be decided September 11th.
