In a quiet suburb in Milton, residents are shaken to hear that their beautiful, private but friendly neighbour was among the victims in a terrorist attack in Istanbul, Turkey on New Years day.

29 year old, Alaa Al-Muhandis was an event planner and owner of Looloo’s arrangements. Her husband is the owner of a car dealership on Martin street in Milton, also by the name of Looloo’s. An employee at the dealership and family friend says Al-Muhandis was a joyful person and a dedicated mother.

“It is a great loss for everybody and everybody is trying to cope. She was a great person. Always happy, always a big smile on her face and she will forever be loved and remembered.”

Neighbours say the family was very private but they would often see the young mother playing outside with her children, a little boy and a little girl who are about 7 and 3 years old.

At a nightclub in Istanbul, happy celebrations were happening at the stroke of midnight. Approximately an hour later, a lone gunman entered the club killing 39 people, and hurting many more. The family has announced funeral arrangements for this Sunday, at a funeral home in Mississauga.
