Milton man charged with dangerous driving after a police pursuit

Just before 9 am Saturday, Halton police responded to reports of an impaired driver in the area of Trafalgar rd. and Highway 407. Witnesses reported seeing a green Volkswagen with a missing front tire driving erratically.

When police officers located the vehicle the driver engages officers in a high speed chase. Even with a missing front tire the driver accelerated to speeds over 170 km/hr.   In the interest of public safety officers terminated the pursuit.

The vehicle was later found abandoned in Mississauga. Shortly after the registered owner contacted police to report it stolen.

Halton police met up with the male and he was quickly identified as the fleeing driver and was arrested.

23 year old Dave Simpson of Milton is facing a number of charges including dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and flight from police.
