The man who helped break the story into Jian Ghomeshi’s abusive behaviour says the report the CBC commissioned revealed nothing new.
Jesse Brown, a media critic who runs the Canadaland website told CHCH’s Square Off that because the report was so heavily redacted, no one knows who was responsible. “We don’t know any of that. We didn’t know before the report because vast sections are blanked out of it.”
Brown called the CBC conference call a farce. “President Hubert Lacroix, and (head of English services) Heather Conway, making this big display of transparency, not just because of the redactions but because we still don’t know what roles they played in this.”
The CBC severed ties with two executives following the report’s release. It found the public broadcaster failed to provide its staff a “workplace free of disrespectful and abusive behaviour.”
