McMaster running back Chris Pezzetta is one of the great comeback stories in sport. And on Saturday afternoon, he provided a gripping emotional storyline to the homecoming football game.

The 22-year old from Burlington rushed for 154 yards and scored a TD in Mac’s 28-19 win over Queen’s. That’s a great day by any standards, but what makes it special, is that Pezzetta missed the last two years, recovering from 2 separate ACL surgeries on the same knee. Pezzetta was named the most valuable player on Saturday. And Pezzetta explained what it meant to him to be back, to “really be back.”

Chris Pezzetta, OUA Offensive Football Player of the Week: “It was a pretty surreal moment, I mean. You know there’s lots of doubts when you’re off football for two years, it was just nice to know that I could get a second chance to play the game I love. It was helping our team win. So many thoughts go through your head that you can’t even put them all together.
