A man was shot and killed by police in the emergency room at the Guelph General Hospital. It happened around 1:30 this afternoon. The provincial Special Investigations Unit has been called in to investigate and say two Guelph police officers fired their guns. The man was pronounced dead at the scene. His name or age have not been released yet. Witnesses say a woman was seen running out of the hospital holding her leg — which was bleeding — yelling that her boyfriend shot her. A couple who had a baby less than 48 hours before say they were outside the hospital at the time and heard 4 or 5 gunshots.
