Hamilton Police arrested and charged a man after he refused to pull over for a traffic stop on Saturday.

Officers noticed a damaged Mazda MX6 in the area of Deerhurst Rd. and Hemlock Av. shortly before 5:30 p.m.

Investigators say the rear driver’s side wheel was not turning as the vehicle drove forward.

Police attempted to pull the car over but the driver refused to stop, got out of the car and fled.

With the help of the canine unit, officers found the driver hiding in a nearby house.

Tyler McMath, 19, of Oakville was charged with flight from police, two counts of failure to comply recognizance and possession of stolen property under $5,000.

McMath was held in custody for a bail hearing.
